I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone and that Christmas will be upon us soon; it literally feels like yesterday when I dropped my best friend and her son off last year at the airport after a fabulous fun filled Christmas.
I love Christmas, literally everything about it, I love how everyone is happy and having fun. Christmas dinner prep takes a couple of days and I love it! This year we're actually going to our friends for Christmas and whilst I am sure it will be lovely, not being the host is going to kill me! We are going to do our own Christmas on the 27th so that will be good, though I loved everyone being here last year.
My fab Aussie friends came round yesterday for Sunday lunch, they were surprised when they arrived and I was prepping a full on roast, they said they were expecting little snacks pfft, not in this house, when I invite people round for food, I go all out! We had roast Pork with yummy roast potatoes that were doused in Duck fat rendered from a previous dinner of Peking Duck.
Silly me thought, it wouldn't be a late one but no, a few bottles of wine later and a trip to the shop to replen and a surprise bottle of Gin and we're all dancing around the living room to all sorts of music! I woke up today with a headache and a kitchen that looked like it was Christmas day!
We're off to Chicago this Thursday and are mad excited about it, if only we could take Eric with us. I'm looking forward to writing about our adventures on my return.

Introducing the Carters!
Well it's been some time since we were travelling the world, living out of backpacks and blogging about our adventures; I did hope to continue with the blog we used when travelling but alas I cannot get into it for life nor money but if anyone did wish to have a nosey at our 2.5 year adventure you can read about them at www.nathandshell.blogspot.com.
Since we finished our backpacking in January 2011 after an amazing Christmas in New York and New Years in Vegas (yes it was mental), we've had some right adventures and have now found ourselves living in Canada! I guess being the adventurers we are, we were never going to settle down back home, not with the big wide world beckoning to us. We did try to settle at home,we lived in Chester and Canterbury but when a random opportunity to move to Canada arose, we could hardly say no could we!
We are now living in Edmonton, Alberta with our 7 month old Boxer Eric and trying to explore as much of this side of the world as possible. We currently have trips planned this year to: New Orleans (we leave on Wednesday and are v excited), Peru, Vancouver and maybe Nashville (if we can fit it in). Our other loves which will feature heavily in our blog is of course our little man Eric (who has his own hashtag on Instagram called Ericsdiary) and food. We are massive foodies, whether it be eating out or cooking at home we just love food! We're both also into running, I'm an avid book worm and also trying to turn my hand to gardening!
